This conference, now in its fourth year, brings together the world’s top influencers and innovators in the field of healthcare, science and technology to discuss the latest in disruptive technology and thinking, with the goal to improve healthcare for everyone, exponentially.
In four jam-packed days, every presentation wowed the audience with the latest in technology and ideas. Throughout it all we were continually challenged on how to bring this knowledge back into our organizations in order to truly make a difference.
The new ABCDs of healthcare
In an era where we’re moving from evidence-based medicine to intelligence-based medicine, this conference covered a wide range of concepts such as, personalized medicine, cloud robotics, cellular agriculture and bespoke therapeutics. Dr. Anthony Chang, the Chief Intelligence and Innovation Officer and CHOC, even spelled out the new ABCDs of healthcare:
- A: Analytics & AI
- B: Big Data, Block Chain
- C: Cloud & Cognitive computing
- D: Deep learning
In addition to the speakers and workshops, there was also an Innovation Lab showcasing companies and innovations set to revolutionize the practice of medicine and radically transform healthcare and the biomedical industry. As INVIVO has been a long-time leader in innovative ways to communicate and educate science and medicine we were a welcomed addition to this future-forward lab.
To deliver on the promise of immersive technology for use in medical training and education, we came prepared with our HTC Vive Enlightened League of Bone Builders VR game, an augmented reality educational experience we created about CRISPR on the HoloLens, and our mobile VR Bloodstream Explorer app for everyone to experience on Google cardboard viewers.
“By giving everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in our AR and VR experiences, I got to witness the light bulbs going off on how these technologies could truly make an impact in healthcare for training and education,” commented Andrea Bielecki, President of INVIVO. “Not only did everyone have fun, but their excitement over the potential applications they could create was palpable.”
Even Dr. Daniel Kraft, curator of the conference, and faculty chair of Medicine and Neuroscience at Singularity University, managed to find a few minutes to give our CRISPR Demo on the HoloLens a try!
