CHALLENGE:
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) approximately 15 million babies are born preterm (before 37 weeks) worldwide. Preterm babies face potential lifelong disabilities, health challenges, and a low likelihood of survival depending on how early they are born. To help facilitate conversations between expectant mothers and their physicians, our client was interested in creating a visual experience that simulated organ development in the 3rd trimester. We set out to develop an immersive experience that would underscore the importance of the final weeks of a baby’s development leading up to the due date.
TRANSFORMATION:
We created the 360° In the Womb Virtual Reality experience, taking the viewer into the final weeks of a baby’s development in the womb. The experience, through immersive and life-like visuals, beautifully narrates the final weeks of growth that takes place leading up to the due date, highlighting the development of three vitally important organs including the brain, lungs and liver. The 360° video was developed to be viewed on any mobile VR player or any web browser.
RESULT:
The experience immerses the viewer into the growth that cannot be seen which has raised awareness and opened up the necessary dialogue around the importance of late preterm birth with healthcare providers. Physicians are also able to use this experience to better communicate the importance of this with their patients.
