CHALLENGE:
The 2014-16 Ebola West Africa outbreak was unprecedented in both the number of cases reported and for its geographical spread, documented as the world’s largest Ebola outbreak. MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) found itself managing a complex global health emergency involving a relatively obscure disease. As a result, in addition to its front-line medical response, MSF also set out to educate the public about the disease.
TRANSFORMATION:
To support MSF’s global outreach educational programs, we created a concise 3D animation to explain Ebola’s mechanism of action and transmission. Through the use of detailed 3D models, crisp infographics and concise storytelling, we captured the integral components of the disease’s propagation within the human body.
RESULT:
Our animation was widely shared both with the general public and with MSF’s partner agencies across the globe whose help MSF needed to continue its fight against the outbreak in West Africa. The animation was also awarded the 2018 Communicator Award of Excellence in Education.
